Name: Candlestick In The Library: Mystery Writing Event
Date: October 23, 2020
Time: 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM EDT
Event Description:
Love A Good Mystery? Zoom In! How do authors create their mysteries? Find out at CANDLESTICK IN THE LIBRARY, a hilarious improvisational mystery creation event via Zoom led by mystery novelist Jeannette de Beauvoir. Audience members will help supply the victim(s), the protagonist, the sidekick, the red herring, and the murderer…and will eventually put the entire story together. Throughout the event, de Beauvoir uses these categories to weave in information about the genre and the craft: the difference between a cozy mystery and a procedural, the importance of sense of place, the formation of character, and the plot—which most certainly will include a twist. In less than 90 minutes you’ll have created a (semi)-coherent story to rival Agatha Christie—but having a lot more fun than Agatha ever did! This Program is presented by The Yarmouth Port Library via Zoom, Friday, October 23, 2:00PM. For information on joining this event check the website at yarmouthportlibrary.org or contact the library at 508-362-3717.
